Hi 👋, I'm Simon!
I'm a software engineer living and working in Munich, Germany.
I'm curious about various technical things, which mostly happen to be related to some kind of programming. Whenever I think something might also be of use for others I'm either publishing it on GitHub, or talk about it in a talk or workshop. In the past, I already did talks and workshops at JSCraftCamp, Softwerkskammer Ruhrgebiet, Softwerkskammer Thüringen, various internal workshops at my current company and I used to teach an introductory CS course for first year students at my former university.
I'm experienced in backend development with Python, node and Java.
Stable software requires proper testing, something I'm pretty serious about. Sakuli, Selenium, Jest, JUnit and Cucumber are just some of the tools on my testing belt.
I'm also a huge fan of Progressive Web Apps, which I have already built a few of. Often times a PWA is able to achieve the same results as a native app while being smaller in size and faster to install. There is still space for improvements, but things like Web Bluetooth API or Device Motion are quite exciting!
When working on my projects, a proper CI / CD setup is one of the first things I configure. Automation rocks! 🤘 Most of the time, I'm using tools like Travis CI, AppVeyor or GitHub Actions for my projects.
